FCE Writing Checker

Free Cambridge B2 First writing checker. Paste an essay, email or review, get a /20 mark, inline corrections, and examiner notes — one free check per visitor.

Cambridge B2 First Writing is marked on four scales: Content, Communicative Achievement, Organisation and Language. This free FCE writing checker uses the same PassFirst examiner that marks dashboard writings — a /20 score, inline highlights, and notes you can apply in one click.

It works like a Write & Improve-style writing checker for FCE: choose an essay, email or review task, write 140–190 words, and submit. You get one free correction per visitor (one IP). Register for a second free ticket inside PassFirst, or go Premium for unlimited checks and a C1 rewrite.

FAQ

Is this FCE writing checker free?
Yes. You get one free writing correction per visitor (limited by IP), with a Cambridge-style /20 mark and inline comments. Create a free PassFirst account for another writing ticket, or upgrade to Premium for unlimited checks and a C1 rewrite.
How is the writing marked?
The checker uses the official Cambridge B2 First Writing rubric: Content, Communicative Achievement, Organisation and Language, each scored 0–5 (total /20). PassFirst also estimates a Cambridge Writing Scale score (about 120–190).
Which FCE writing tasks can I check?
Essay, email and review — the most common B2 First Part 1 and Part 2 tasks. Each task is a Cambridge-style prompt with a 140–190 word range. The free quota is one check in total, not one per task type.
Is this the same as Cambridge Write & Improve?
No. This is PassFirst’s own FCE writing checker. It is inspired by that write-and-improve workflow (write, submit, see highlighted feedback) but it is not a Cambridge product. Feedback follows the B2 First Writing mark scheme used in PassFirst.
Do I need an account?
Not for the first check. After that, register to unlock another free writing ticket in the PassFirst dashboard, full C1 rewrites on Premium, and the rest of the FCE practice bank.
